about

Isolation Light started out as photographs. A long, drawn-out winter transitioning into Covid lockdown. Anxiety, frustration, and boredom were setting in, and I was looking for something to distract my mind. A self-imposed creative ritual was implemented. I was usually the first to wake up every morning. It was quiet and peaceful. I could then quietly walk around the house and explore every little natural light source I could find. The smallest hint of light, color, or shape would draw me in. It was all natural and organic. However, after a while I started experimenting and using the morning light with objects I found around the house. Weird shapes and colors were what I was after. I would usually edit them and post my favorites on social media. Using creativity as a distraction for my wandering, anxious mind was complete. I thought I was done with the photographs after that. Then I started wondering what kinds of sounds or music might go well with my photographs. With no real plan I just started creating sounds. Sounds turned into weird, ambient soundscapes. The idea of Obscured Tones as an ambient soundscape musical project was born. Slowly the two projects combined into one. Isolation Light is the first attempt at combining my love of music and photography.

about

Obscured Tones Bend, Oregon

Obscured Tones is an exploration into ambient music, imaginary soundtracks, soundscapes, and sound design. The idea came from what music/sounds I thought might sound interesting paired with my photography.
